Health-care companies fell sharply as the selection of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Donald Trump's nominee to head the Department of Health and Human Services weighed on vaccine makers.
Shares of Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Novavax and Moderna tumbled. Among European vaccine makers, Bavarian Nordic and Valneva fell by 10% or more.
Getinge shares fell after the Food and Drug Administration said the Swedish maker of hospital equipment was recalling certain blood-work devices.
