WASHINGTON, Jan 20 (Reuters) - U.S. pharmaceutical company
Moderna expects to announce where it will set up a
"fill-finish" facility for COVID-19 vaccine production in Africa
in the next month or so, its chief legal officer, Shannon
Klinger said on Thursday.
Klinger told a virtual event hosted by the Financial Times
that the pharmaceutical industry had initially been slow in
getting vaccines to Africa, but Moderna now was taking steps to
change the situation.
"In terms of timing, we can do fill-finish on the continent
as early as next year, and are in active discussions with
respect to that. We hope to announce our country of choice in
the next month or so," she said.
