MONETA launches second round of grants, non-profit organizations focusing on the disadvantaged and sustainability can apply for support

Prague, 15 September 2022

The autumn round of this year's MONETA grant programme starts on 3 October. Organisations whose primary focus is helping socially and medically disadvantaged children and adults, caring for the elderly and protecting the environment can again apply for financial support. The Bank has allocated CZK 5 million for this year's grant programme, and applications can be submitted by individual organisations until 31 October.

MONETA traditionally announces grants in two rounds, and the condition for each application is that it must be "adopted" by one of the bank's employees. "This is the universality of our grant programme. Employees themselves choose the non-profitsthey become ambassadors for and subsequently obtain funding for their projects or operations from the grants committee. In this way, they create synergy between their personal values and the bank's social responsibility," says Zuzana Filipová, MONETA's Director of Sustainability and Communications, describing the principle of the grant programme, adding that although the number of non-profit organisations that have already managed to find "their" long-term ambassador over the past years is constantly growing, every year new applicants are still looking for an ambassador: "For non-profitorganizations that have no experience with our grant program, we recommend that they go to the nearest Moneta branch and approach our bankers directly. Very often, the banker who is approached chooses the non-profitorganization because its activities make sense to them."

The grant programme has been announced by MONETA every year since 1996. This year, it has already distributed a total of CZK 3 340 000 among the first 43 successful applicants from the spring round. Among others, these included projects from the social sphere, such as the Cystic Fibrosis Club, DEBRA ČR z.ú., which helps people with butterfly wing disease, or ALSA, z.s., which helps people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Among those supported are also organisations providing hospice care, which the bank has helped by purchasing equipment and aids for the implementation of care.

Applications for the second round of the grant programme will be open from 3 October to 31 October at GRANT.CZ@moneta.cz. For detailed instructions on how to submit a grant application, interested parties
