DALLAS (AP) _ MoneyGram International Inc. (MGI) on Thursday reported third-quarter net income of $10.9 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

The Dallas-based company said it had net income of 12 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 16 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 5 cents per share.

The money transfer company posted revenue of $323.2 million in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $308.4 million.

The company's shares closed at $4.49. A year ago, they were trading at $4.28.
