This week Multiplan inaugurates ParkJacarepaguá, the company's 20th shopping center. The mall will open to the public on November 19, at 10 a.m. The inauguration ceremony will take place on November 18 for guests and authorities.

Located in one of the regions of greatest expansion in the city, the result of an investment of R$ 1 billion, the mall will serve a population estimated at around 700,000 inhabitants with a huge demand for services, commerce and leisure, besides being a generator of around 8,000 direct and indirect jobs.

"We are a company that continues to invest. We are delivering a mall in the aftermath of the pandemic. I hope this Christmas will be one of joy, with one of the biggest Christmas trees in Brazil in Jacarepaguá," said José Isaac Peres, founder and CEO of Multiplan, during a press conference on Thursday.

ParkJacarepaguá will offer the convenience and quality of Multiplan's malls, including major brands and attractions for the whole family. There will be more than 230 stores, a supermarket, a fitness center, a multi-purpose event center with capacity for 1,000 people, a permanent 600-m² ice-skating rink (the largest in Rio de Janeiro), six stadium movie theaters, a HotZone amusement park, several gastronomic options, In addition, there are two outside parks totaling 6,000 square meters, including a children's playground (Parque da Magia), a space for pets (ParCão) and an amphitheater with a view of a 150-m2 LED screen fixed on the shopping center's façade, which will show events and other attractions.

Sustainability and reduction of condominium costs

In line with the "mall of the future" concept, ParkJacarepaguá was designed and built using the most modern sustainable technologies and following the best environmental practices, aiming for greater operational efficiency and lower condominium costs. One of the highlights is its solar energy plant, one of the largest in the city, installed in a 16,000 m² area on its roof, with 3,686 panels of photovoltaic cells and the capacity to generate 2,122MWh of energy per year. This is enough to supply about 15% of the mall's energy needs and equivalent to the consumption of 620 homes.

In addition, the development is already positioned to obtain the LEED seal of approval, which recognizes the high standard of sustainability. Among the highlights are its own effluent treatment station, with a capacity of more than 36. 000 m³ of sewage per year, generating savings of about 35% in drinking water consumption; rainwater reuse system, which will be used for irrigation; reuse of gray water in toilets and urinals; sensors in the bathrooms that will contribute to the conscious use of water; escalators with activation sensors according to the frequency of use; and an intelligent air-conditioning system, more modern and sustainable, which contributes to savings of 20% in the shopping center's energy consumption.

Besides the 2,001 parking spaces, 508 of which are covered, ParkJacarepaguá will also have a bicycle rack with capacity for 330 bicycles, and a support point for cyclists. The mall also has an exclusive area for recharging electric cars.

R$ 50 million investment in improvements to the surroundings

Multiplan is also investing about R$ 50 million in revitalization works for public roads and improvements in the education and health infrastructure around the shopping center. The company carried out more than 10 road improvements in the region, all in accordance with a project approved by the municipal government. The main highlights are the construction of a bridge on Avenida das Lagoas, over the Canal do Anil, completed in 2016, and the duplication of Engenho D'Água Road on the 650-meter stretch between Estrada de Jacarepaguá and Avenida Canal do Anil.

In the shopping center's environs, Multiplan also implemented new street lighting, modernized 69 sets of traffic lights - all with LED lighting - developed landscaping projects on several streets and renovated the street fixtures around the development, including the construction of eight new bus bays with shelters for passengers.

Services and options for the whole family

ParkJacarepaguá will bring to the region 17 anchor and mega stores and large national brands, such as Magazine Luiza, Renner, Smart Fit, C&A, Riachuelo, Prezunic, Outback Steakhouse, Bar do Zeca, among others. "ParkJacarepaguá's store mix was carefully developed, observing the desires and needs of our clients. We have combined the great variety of anchor stores with the quality of the best in fashion, services, entertainment and gastronomy, making it a complete shopping mall for the different demands of the consumers," says the Superintendent of ParkJacarepaguá, Paulo Bittencourt.

The outdoor area is equipped with a giant LED screen in front of the Events Plaza, where there is an amphitheater and the unprecedented ParCão, where pets are guaranteed a fun-filled time, all in a green area. In 2022, the Parque da Magia will be inaugurated, the most dazzling playground in Rio de Janeiro, with a number of attractions imported from European countries, composed of toys and sensory activities for children. The area is inspired by Parque Barracadabra, developed by Multiplan in BarraShoppingSul, in Porto Alegre.
