Multiplan was recognized as one of the sustainable companies that make up the portfolio of B3's Carbon Efficient Index (ICO2). Multiplan has been listed on this index, created by the São Paulo Stock Exchange, since 2016.

The ICO2 recognizes companies that prepare a Greenhouse Gas Inventory (GHG) and formally adhere to the index initiative, reporting their information transparently to the B3 and paying attention to reducing environmental impacts, such as carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

Multiplan also is part of other market indexes related to sustainability, such as Dow Jones Green Real Estate, IGC B3 (Special Corporate Governance Stock Index) and S&P/B3 ESG. Moreover, it recently obtained Latin America's highest score in the real estate sector in the report released by S&P for best ESG (environmental, social and governance) practices.

The Company is involved in a number of sustainability initiatives, such as revitalization and maintenance of parks and public squares with sizeable green areas, waste recycling, water reuse, natural light use, exclusive purchase of energy from renewable sources, and solar energy production through external plants as well as its own facilities.

In 2021, the Company inaugurated ParkJacarepaguá in Rio de Janeiro, its 20th shopping center, whose design and construction was based on the most modern sustainable technologies. It observes the best environmental practices, aiming for more operational efficiencies and lower condominium costs. One of the highlights is a solar power plant, one of the largest in the city, fitted on a 16,000 m² area on its roof, with capacity to supply about 15% of the shopping center's energy needs and equivalent to the consumption of 620 homes.
