Multiplan is committed to environmental stewardship and has implemented ESG practices in the day-to-day operations of its 20 shopping centers and commercial towers for many years. Always attentive to innovations, our projects are increasingly moving towards sustainability, contributing to the development and growth of our entire relationship chain.

Several initiatives were planned and implemented, including those aimed at producing and consuming clean energy, controlling and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, waste disposal, and water reuse, among other things. All the strategies aim to combat environmental degradation, natural resource depletion and conditions that destabilize the economy and society.

March 22 is World Water Day. The goal of the date is to raise awareness about the importance of preserving this natural resource and to spark important discussions about it. All of the company's projects take some kind of action to reduce water consumption, and we've listed the highlights below. Check them out!

Rainwater reuse - This is the capture of rainwater on roofs and rooftops. Instead of this water draining directly into a sewer, it is used for non-potable purposes, without the need for a more complex treatment.

Effluent Treatment Station (ETE) - Multiplan invests in the construction of effluent treatment stations, which allow treated water to be reused in shopping centers for a variety of purposes such as watering gardens, use in the air conditioning system and toilets, washing loading docks, among others.

Tap pressure reduction - Installing pressure reducers on bathroom taps and monitoring consumption to identify and avoid waste, as well as checking hydrometers and spreadsheet records, is another way to save water.

In 2021, Multiplan received the highest score in Latin America in the Real Estate category in a report released by S&P on ESG practices. At the time, the Company was the only company in Latin America to receive the highest score in the Governance category, and in the world, it tied for first place with 28 other companies. According to the report, the company obtained the high rankig on the three fronts (environmental, social and governance) due to its rigorous operational performance standards.

Small mistakes can lead to great waste, and everyone can help in this fight! As a result, habits such as turning off the water when brushing your teeth, reusing washing machine water, and paying attention to infiltrations and leaks can all help save water. Furthermore, choosing enterprises committed to integrity and conscious of their environmental and social responsibilities is an important link in this chain. Taking care of our water is to take care of life!
