Wuxi Murata Electronics Co., Ltd. (Wuxi New District, Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, hereinafter referred to as "Wuxi Murata Electronics"), a manufacturing subsidiary of Murata Manufacturing, Co. Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Murata Manufacturing"), completed construction on the Murata Manufacturing Group's very first environmentally friendly multistory parking garage (hereinafter referred to as "parking garage") on May 23, 2022.

If society is to continue to grow sustainably, then efforts to combat climate change, a global concern, are paramount. The Murata Manufacturing Group sees the "reinforcement of climate change countermeasures" as an important issue that we are addressing with key initiatives, and it is hoped that the parking garage will contribute to reducing CO2 emissions in the region.

Special double-sided solar panels have been used in the construction of the parking garage, allowing light to be collected by both sides, thereby improving the power generation efficiency for the area of the building. Consequently, power will not only be generated from direct sunlight collected by the surface of the panels, but also from light reflected off the ground and parked cars, collected by the reverse side. Taking advantage of the fact that it is a multistory parking garage, solar panels have also been installed on the south- and east-facing walls, increasing solar energy absorption for a land area of that size by 1.2×.

Construction of this parking garage will enable the generation of electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of more than 300 average households and reduce CO2 by 490 tons. Wuxi Murata Electronics will continue to work toward achieving China's "30·60 Goal"^*1 by increasing the number of solar panels, introducing green energy^*2, and aiming to achieve RE100 targets by FY2023, as well as carbon neutrality by FY2025 (Scope 1 + Scope 2^*3).
