Greece - MYTILINEOS Renewables and Storage Development (RSD) Business Unit announces that after approximately 15 months, the 170MW Solar Power Plant in the municipality of Pica, Tarapaca, Chile reached Mechanical Completion.

The contract was signed with global solar IPP Sonnedix, on the 10th of April 2019 and the Notice to Proceed has been issued on the 3rd of September 2019.

As already announced by MYTILINEOS, despite the difficulties imposed by the covid-19 pandemic worldwide, all construction works undertaken were uninterrupted and concluded as scheduled, without any risks for the personnel. This underlines the fact that the company is amongst the 10 top EPC contractors worldwide for solar & storage projects, as it manages to deliver all projects with the highest of standards.

The scope of the project included the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the Solar Plant and performance of two years of operation and maintenance (O&M) services.

Sonnedix Atacama Solar is the largest solar PV project of Sonnedix to date, and the 2nd largest built in Chile. MYTILINEOS has already established its position in the country as it focuses strategically in the solar market of Latin America.
