Serbia's young physicists won five medals, one gold and four silver ones to be precise, at 48 International physics competition held between 16th and 24 July in Indonesia's Jogjakarta with NIS support.

Belgrade's Mathematics High School Dušan Đorđević won the most venerable one, while his peers Marko Šušnjar and Vuk Radović also from Belgrade's Mathematics High School, and Novak and Bogdan Stanojević from Niš 'Svetozar Marković' High School won silver medals. The team of High School students representing Serbia at the International physics competition was led by professors of Serbia's Physicists Association - Božidar Nikolić of Physics Faculty in Belgrade and Veljko Janković from the Institute of Physics in Zemun. This was the fifth gold medal and the best result achieved by Serbia's young competitors up to now at international physics competitions for High School students.

A team of students of Belgrade's Mathematics High School also made a great success at the 58 International mathematics competition, held between 15 and 23 July in Rio de Janeiro. Young High School students of Belgrade's Mathematics High School won four silver and two bronze medals. Silver medals were won by Marko Medvedev, Ognjen Tosić, Aleksa Milojević and Pavle Martinović, and the bronze went to Jelena Ivančić and Igor Medvedev. Bojan Bašić, Ph.D and Dušan Đukić, M.A have lead the team as its mentors.

NIS support to International physics and mathematics competitions is part and parcel of the company's 'Power of Knowledge' programme devised to facilitate Serbia's young, gifted students. For five consecutive years, NIS has been staging physics and mathematics competitions in Serbia, their winners subsequently representing our country at international competitions all over the world. This is the company's way to invest in the future, thus facilitating science and education development in Serbia.
