DULUTH, Ga. (AP) _ National Vision Holdings Inc. (EYE) on Tuesday reported first-quarter net income of $30.1 million.

On a per-share basis, the Duluth, Georgia-based company said it had net income of 34 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were 33 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 27 cents per share.

The discount optical retailer and eye care provider posted revenue of $527.7 million in the period, which did not meet Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $550.1 million.

National Vision expects full-year earnings in the range of 65 cents to 80 cents per share, with revenue in the range of $2.01 billion to $2.07 billion.
