Gas Natural Fenosa : The Gas Museum discovers the secrets of nanoscience and nanotechnology in a new temporary exhibit

• The Gas Natural Fenosa Foundation Gas Museum presents the Welcome to the nanodimension! exhibit, aimed at highlighting the achievements and applications of nanoscience and nanotechnology.

• The show, which is open to the public until 19 November, was organised in conjunction with the Catalan Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Institute (ICN2) and the Aragon Nanoscience Institute (INA), in partnership with the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT).

Earlier today, the Mayor of Sabadell, Maties Serracant, Gas Natural Fenosa Foundation General Manager Martí Solà , Gas Museum Director Eva Buch, Catalan Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Institute (ICN2) Director Pablo Ordejón, and Aragon Nanoscience Institute Representative Guillermo Orduña opened the temporary exhibit Welcome to the nanodimension!. The show, which will be open to the public from 1 to 19 November 2017 at the Gas Natural Fenosa Foundation Gas Museum, was organised in conjunction with the Catalan Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Institute (ICN2) and the Aragon Nanoscience Institute (INA), in partnership with the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT).

The exhibits allow visitors to discover how nanoscience and nanotechnology are present in our everyday lives. Through various interactive modules, visitors can experience these scientific fields, which will have many applications in diverse areas of knowledge, including energy, in the very near future. Gas Museum Director Eva Buch pointed to 'the importance of supporting scientific research and technology to make the latest advances accessible to the general public'.

An exhibition for the whole family

The Welcome to the nanodimension! exhibit, mainly directed at kids and families, is an invitation to dive into these fields through various hands-on interactive modules. The show reveals the nanoscopic scale and the paradigm shift of a dimension a million times smaller than a millimetre. Through play and experimentation, kids understand how the 'nano' dimension gives us a new look at materials not visible to the naked eye. The exhibit also presents recent advances, as well as the numerous applications of nanoscience and nanotechnology in our daily lives.

The show also includes applications of nanoscience and nanotechnology in the energy sector. 'Thanks to research and work at the nano level, we have been able to develop new materials whose properties and behaviour can be controlled by designing their structure,' Eva Buch explained. In terms of energy, recent research is leading to solutions and improvements in the fields of efficiency and storage.

Founded in 1992 by GAS NATURAL FENOSA and with a presence in every country where the company operates, the Gas Natural Fenosa Foundation is tasked with educating, training and informing society, as well as raising its awareness of energy and environmental issues and developing business and academic programmes such as the First Export Programme.
