Naturgy Energy Group SA said Thursday that it has received administrative approval to permanently close a coal-fired plant in Meirama, Spain.
The energy group submitted the original closing request to the Spanish government in 2018. Naturgy said it is currently working to promote a number of renewable-generation projects in the Meirama plant region, including the development of two wind farms with a total capacity of 70 megawatts.
It added that it has implemented a plan for the employees of the plant that contemplates various solutions, such as relocation in other units of the company or exit agreements.
