NCC and Bane NOR have signed an agreement to convert the Drammen railway station area in Norway. The project is highly complex in terms of the planning, logistics and coordination of several technically challenging elements. The order value amounts to approximately SEK 1.9 billion. NCC's assignment involves extending the Drammen railway station area. Work will include building platforms, pedestrian underpasses, a waterfront promenade and parts of a new city bridge spanning the track area. The project is part of Bane NOR's venture "New double track Drammen-Kobbervikdalen" and is part of the InterCity initiative. An extensive development of the railway in eastern Norway is under way, which will provide one and a half million inhabitants shorter travel times and more departures. The work will commence in September 2021 and is expected to be completed at the end of 2025. The assignment is a design and build contract and the order for SEK 1.9 billion will be registered during the second quarter of 2021 in the NCC Infrastructure business area.
