Neste listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the ninth time

Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI) have listed Neste in the DJSI World Index for the ninth time in a row. Neste ranks highly especially with regard to water related issues, as well as environmental and social reporting.

"We have a maximum score of 100 points for water issues and related risks. Water and steam are used in Neste's refining operations. The refineries' water consumption is monitored in terms of water usage and its efficiency, and cooling water and wastewater management," says Simo Honkanen, Senior Vice President, Sustainability and Public Affairs at Neste.

"We are also very pleased to rank in the top percentile with regard to both environmental and social reporting. Transparency is an important part of our sustainability work," continues Honkanen.

The DJSI annual review is based on an analysis of panies' economic, environmental and social performance. Neste's best overall score is in the economic dimension in which the pany ranks highly, for example, with regard to supply chain management. "Developing our supply chain is an ongoing process and a key priority," states Honkanen.

According to the DJSI results, Neste needs to improve in the area of social sustainability. "Social issues and labor rights are very much at the top of our agenda right now. We are working together with several stakeholders with regard to these issues. Therefore, I believe we will achieve a higher ranking in the future," says Honkanen.
