Commencing operations soon, the Nestlé QTS has been set up for people who have been in close contact with COVID-19 cases, also known as Person(s) Under Surveillance (PUS). Open to Nestlé employees and their families, as well as B40 and lower-income communities in Selangor, the Nestlé QTS provides an appropriate setting for those who do not have the means or suitable facilities for at-home quarantine. This will include free hotel room accommodation and amenities, three nutritious meals a day, specially designed by MAGGI Chefs, with adherence to safety SOP protocols as advised by the Ministry of Health. The costs of the Nestlé Quarantine Transit Station will be fully borne by Nestlé.

YAB Dato' Seri Amirudin Bin Shari, Menteri Besar Selangor said, 'As our nation battles the fourth wave of COVID-19, we have seen encouraging progress with the number of daily cases on a downtrend. Nevertheless, Selangor is among the most affected states due to the population density, and although the MCO 2.0 currently in effect is demonstrating results, our healthcare facilities are nearly at full capacity to accommodate patients. As such and in line with the Government's efforts to set up more COVID-19 quarantine transit centres, we welcome private-public collaborations to ensure that we can continue to protect the health and wellbeing of the Rakyat.'

YBhg Datuk Dr Chong Chee Kheong, Deputy Director-General Public Health, Ministry of Health Malaysia said, 'Nestlé's support for communities in Selangor with this quarantine centre is indeed a laudable effort. It is our hope that through strong multi-stakeholder partnerships, and by leveraging on each other's resources, knowledge and expertise, together we can help break the chain of infection. We are optimistic that initiatives such as this, together with the Government's implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination programme, will pave the way for the road to recovery.'

Mr Juan Aranols, Chief Executive Officer, Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad commented, 'Having fulfilled our pledge of channelling RM15 million to pandemic relief efforts, the Nestlé Quarantine Transit Station represents the next step in our steadfast commitment to support Malaysians in a time of national need because of the pandemic. Our quarantine centre enables PUS who may lack the capacity for effective home quarantine, to self-isolate comfortably and most importantly, safely.

This will be especially beneficial for vulnerable communities, including B40 families and lower-income groups. As a company that has deep roots in Selangor, which is home to the majority of our workforce across three factories in Shah Alam, this allows us to help those in need within the local communities.'

Pegasus Hotel was selected as a quarantine centre by the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) in 2020, with proven capabilities and strict compliance to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in handling quarantine cases. Through this initiative, 100 hotel rooms are reserved as quarantine rooms by Nestlé, comprising a range of options to accommodate either single or family groups.

Those under quarantine are required to observe strict SOPs to protect the hotel staff and other guests, with a process flow designed by the hotel and validated by the health authorities. This includes utilising a dedicated quarantine entrance and elevator, as well as a separate kitchen which provides three nourishing meals a day developed by Nestlé. Upon checking in, a 'Nestlé Cares' Care Kit will be provided, containing a selection of essential Nestlé products for the duration of their stay. Those under quarantine will also be monitored the authorities, including the Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM), Petaling District Government Office and the Selangor State Health Department.
