Cloud Volumes Service Google Cloud

Cloud Volumes Service for Google Cloud expands with new regions and features to meet increased demand

Enterprises are moving their applications to the cloud to lower costs and improve agility, and their storage platforms need to evolve-without sacrificing capabilities or quality. Specifically, business-critical applications in the cloud need a storage platform with data management capability, high availability, predictable performance, scalability, and reliability, all at the right cost. To meet this demand, I am delighted to announce that NetApp and Google Cloud have just launched NetApp® Cloud Volumes Service for Google Cloud in two more regions, Salt Lake City and Tokyo, bringing the global total to 19. See the full list here. This important milestone meets the high demand for enterprise-class cloud file storage in two key areas of the world.
Salt Lake City

Utah is home to many digitally savvy companies. Now open to Cloud Volumes Service for Google Cloud customers, the Salt Lake City region (us-west3) offers the speed and availability you need to innovate faster, build high-performing applications, and best serve local customers. In the future we expect to expand volume replication to include Salt Lake City in addition to Los Angeles, Iowa, and Virginia.
Tokyo

Continuing our growth in Asia, Cloud Volumes Service will be available in Tokyo (asia-northeast1) in September 2021, bringing the total to six Google Cloud regions in Asia. As one of the fastest- growing technology markets, the Asia-Pacific region has been important to NetApp and Google Cloud since the beginning of our strategic partnership. Building on our existing APAC regions, Tokyo increases our total number of regions in Asia to seven.
How can Cloud Volumes Service benefit my organization?

Cloud Volumes Service is a powerful file storage service that can run your most demanding workloads in Google Cloud, without the need for code modification or refactoring. It's integrated into the GCP console, built on NetApp ONTAP® technology, and sold in the Marketplace and supported by Google Cloud. It takes only a few minutes to set up, and supports both Linux and Windows applications.

Cloud Volumes Service is the service of choice for some of the most demanding Microsoft Windows workloads in the business, and we see ourselves as a strong pillar, built to support the most throughput-intensive workloads. Whether it's performance or capacity you need, the service enables innovation through its on-premises-like experience. Much like any other Google Cloud native service, Cloud Volumes Service can be provisioned and consumed against your existing Google Cloud agreements without the need for any term commitments. Flexibility + availability

Thanks to our built-in 99.99% uptime guarantee, Cloud Volumes Service delivers the availability and reliability you simply must have. And, although you always need reliability, you may not require the same level of service at all times. Cloud Volumes Service has on-demand scalability, plus multiple service levels and performance tiers to choose from. Scaling up and down is fast and simple. So is protecting your data. Get higher availability for your critical applications with zone-redundant volumes. This option uses Google regional resources to replicate your volume in another zone, so that your applications can quickly recover from a zone outage and continue serving your business needs. It's generally available in this release. When you shift data protection to the public cloud, it's less expensive to maintain and infinitely scalable, and it doesn't require any management overhead.
