Schitt's Creek co-creator and star Dan Levy has signed a new deal with Netflix.

Netflix said in a press release Friday that Levy, 38, will write and produce new film and TV projects for the streaming service.

Levy's first project will be an untitled romantic comedy film. Levy will write, direct and star in the film, as well as produce with Stacey Snider and Kate Fenske.

Levy will begin work on his first TV series in July 2022.

"Dan Levy is an incredible all-around creative talent, who thoughtfully approaches every story with a meaningful perspective. His work on Schitt's Creek charmed audiences around the world and we're thrilled to partner and create new films and shows with Dan," Netflix head of global film Scott Stuber and Netflix head of global series Bela Bajaria said.

Levy played David Rose on Schitt's Creek, which aired for six seasons on CBC. The sitcom was also made available to stream on Netflix.

"Netflix offered Schitt's Creek a second home at just the right time and opened the doors to a whole new audience for us," Levy said. "Watching the show thrive there has only enhanced my excitement about continuing to tell specific, meaningful stories with them in both TV and feature film. A full circle moment."

Levy co-created Schitt's Creek with his father, actor, writer and producer Eugene Levy. The Schitt's Creek cast will serve as presenters Sunday at the Primetime Emmy Awards.

Deadline said Levy currently has a three-year deal with ABC Signature. He will remain exclusive to the studio until his Netflix TV deal begins in 2022.
