Several Nexans services involved

On the electronics front, the team worked to re-wire the entire monohull. This was carried out in synergy with Nexans, the official sponsor and world leader in the design and manufacture of cable and service systems. "We took advantage of this opportunity to offer Nexans cables and participate, through our partnership, in the development of the vessel", explains Vincent Dessale, Chief Operating Officer and Senior Executive Vice President Building & Territoires Northern Business Group of the company.

This is a very valuable contribution to a particularly cutting-edge technological challenge. "As with an aircraft, we have a weight constraint," notes Martin Piquet, electronics manager of the Nexans - Art & Windows Team. It's a racing boat so it must be as light as possible." Nine different types of cables were produced and supplied by Nexans to Fabrice Amedeo's technical team, totalling 2,655 metres of aeronautical cables that are very light, safe, flexible and efficient, in order to meet the constraints of the IMOCA.
