Nexstar Media Group, Inc., (Nasdaq: NXST) today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc., will celebrate next year’s International Women’s Month by honoring “Remarkable Women” across the country and recognizing one of them as the “Nexstar Woman of the Year” in March 2020.

March is International Women’s Month, an opportunity to acknowledge the great contributions that women have made to our nation and local communities. “Remarkable Women” is a nationwide Nexstar initiative to honor the influence that women have had on public policy, social progress and the quality of life. Nexstar will celebrate local women that inspire, lead and forge the way for other women.

On December 13th, Nexstar television stations in all of the company’s 115 local markets will begin accepting nominations for “Nexstar Woman of the Year.” Based on nominations with universally selected criteria including community contributions, self-achievement, and family impact, each Nexstar market will select four local women for consideration as that market’s “Remarkable Woman.” Profiles of the top four nominees in each market will air on local newscasts every Tuesday, from February 11, 2020, to March 3, 2020, and the nominees will be featured on the websites of each local television station. On March 6, 2020, one woman will be announced in each market as its “Remarkable Woman” and that woman will be considered for “Nexstar Woman of the Year.”

Each local market’s “Remarkable Woman” will be provided with travel and hotel accommodations in New York City to attend a special reception where television talk show host Mel Robbins will be the featured speaker. Each local market’s “Remarkable Woman” will be a guest of the of the “The Mel Robbins Show,” taping on Wednesday, March 18th, when Ms. Robbins will exclusively announce the “Nexstar Woman of the Year.” The show announcing the winner will air during the week of March 23.

The initiative’s official kickoff is Dec. 13, when Nexstar’s market websites, in association with its local television stations, launch a special section on each site devoted to celebrating “Remarkable Women.” The website will contain an online nomination form and serve as a repository of related stories, videos and highlights of the remarkable women in their specific local community. In March, an interactive map will be added to each website, enabling users to watch videos and learn more about each local market’s “Remarkable Woman” selected from Nexstar’s 115 markets across the country. All of these incredible stories also will be available on Nexstar’s social media channels, including Facebook, where the company has more than 30 million followers.
