Nike Inc. Chief Executive John Donahoe's pay package was valued at $53.5 million in the most recent year, including stock and options awards as he took on the CEO job, according to a securities filing.

Meanwhile, longtime CEO and now executive chairman Mark Parker received $18.2 million in total compensation for the year ended in May, up about 30% from the year earlier.

Mr. Donahoe's compensation reflected about $548,077 in base pay since he was only on the job for a few months.

His base pay was set at $1.5 million a year, while Mr. Parker's rose to $1.7 million.

The executives' compensation also reflects the personal use of the company's aircraft and cost of chartered flights for travel to and from the board and shareholder meetings of other companies on whose boards Messrs. Donahoe and Parker serve as directors, according to the filing. That cost was tallied at $23,515 for Mr. Donahoe and $78,618 for Mr. Parker.

Nike said that the company's overall performance fell short of certain targets due to the impact from the coronavirus pandemic. But Nike said it had made some adjustments and awarded discretionary cash bonuses in some cases to account for the company's performance before the pandemic. In the case of Messrs. Donahoe and Parker, those cash bonuses accounted for $6.75 million and $6.025 million of their overall compensation, respectively.
