Betek Boya is a partner company^＊1 of the Nippon Paint Group that has the top market share in the architectural paint market in Turkey. One of the key products of Betek Boya is thermal insulation materials. These materials minimize the transfer of heat between the exterior and interior of a building, playing an important part in energy conservation through room temperature control and lower energy consumption.

Betek Boya was the first to use to apply thermal insulation as an external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS) in the construction industry in Turkey. ETICS has several components, such as thermal insulation boards, a base coat, reinforcement, and the topcoat (exterior coat) and is designed to improve thermal insulation performance and durability. ETICS is widely used in residential buildings because this insulation system improves the efficiency of air conditioning usage and helps reduce utility costs.
Demand for thermal insulating materials is growing even more in Turkey because of the tightening of environmental regulations for GHG emissions and the promotion of green construction^*2 in Europe and the U.S. Thermal insulation materials keep building interiors comfortable all year round as well as prevent the deterioration of a building.

*2 Green construction refers to a building that has a smaller environmental impact and provides a sound and healthy living environment.

Betek Boya developed ETICS in 2003. At that time, more than 90% of buildings in Turkey were not insulated. As a result, people living in and using these buildings were consuming a large amount of energy for heating and cooling. Betek Boya currently provides many ETICS systems with various technical and physical properties, under different brands such as Dalmaçyalı, Expert, Fawori. that contribute to reducing energy losses and GHG emissions. These systems have different functionality and performance involving thermal insulation, impact resistance, fire resistance, and moisture resistance. All of Betek Boya's ETICS products are rigorously tested to meet the standards and specifications of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the guidelines of the European Organization for Technical Assessment (EOTA). As a result, these products are certified for high quality and reliability. Betek Boya also performs numerous durability tests on its ETICS products periodically and is working on further improving the performance of these products and developing new systems.

Betek Boya conducts visits with customers and distributors before starting the installation of ETICS on their buildings. During these visits, Betek Boya uses a thermal camera to assess the building's location, age, and surface temperature. Betek Boya uses this information to measure heat losses of the building and select the ETICS model that precisely meets the customers' needs, such as cost and compatibility with building design requirements and structures. Betek Boya provides solutions that allow building owners to install ETICS with confidence. Betek Boya also supervises the entire construction process and issues an Energy Identification/Performance Certificate^*3 after the completion of construction.

*3 Energy Identification/Performance Certificate: A document containing information regarding energy demand, energy consumption classification and thermal insulation properties of buildings and efficiency of air conditioning systems. To obtain the Energy Identification/Performance Certificate proving high energy performance, the building must have thermal insulation materials of the right thickness and the right thermal insulation systems. As of January 1, 2020, all buildings in Turkey are required to obtain the Energy Identification/Performance Certificate in accordance with the Energy Performance Regulation in Buildings. The Energy Identification/Performance Certificate must be renewed every 10 years.

Installing the proper thermal insulation systems in a building provides the following benefits: ① energy saving of up to 50%, ② a comfortable environment in all four seasons, ③ a longer service life and higher asset value of a building, and ④ a sound and healthy living environment.
