Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the six months ended September 30, 2016. For the period, the company reported net sales of JPY 475,069 million compared to JPY 499,765 million a year ago. Operating income was JPY 10,488 million compared to JPY 8,421 million a year ago. Ordinary income was JPY 13,493 million compared to JPY 16,196 million a year ago. Net loss was JPY 3,871 million compared to net income of JPY 14,284 million a year ago. Net loss per share was JPY 33.44 compared to EPS of JPY 123.40 a year ago. Income before income taxes and minority interests in consolidated subsidiaries was JPY 1,574 million compared to JPY 14,037 million a year ago. Net cash provided by operating activities was JPY 38,022 million compared to JPY 15,274 million a year ago. Purchases of noncurrent assets were JPY 18,748 million compared to JPY 17,627 million a year ago.
The company revised consolidated earnings guidance for the full year ending March 31, 2017. For the year, the company expects net sales of JPY 990,000 million, operating income of JPY 28,000 million, ordinary income of JPY 28,000 million, profit attributable to owners of parent of JPY 1,000 million or JPY 8.64 per share compared to previous guidance of net sales of JPY 1,000,000 million, operating income of JPY 32,000 million, ordinary income of JPY 32,000 million, profit attributable to owners of parent of JPY 18,000 million or JPY 155.51 per share.
