NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), the ICT solutions and international communications business within the NTT Group, announced today that it will expand the footprint of Flexible InterConnect service to overseas markets beginning tomorrow, June 4. Leveraging the global data centers and network facilities operated by NTT Ltd. London, UK, a world-leading global technology services provider, Flexible InterConnect delivers private and secure connections to various cloud service providers as well as interconnection between NTT Group's global data centers.

As a closed network, Flexible InterConnect creates a secure, unified virtual platform from which clients can connect not only NTT Com's cloud services but also other clouds and data centers, such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure. The new network infrastructure overseas will enable clients worldwide to connect to data centers and use Flexible InterConnect's 1G+ high bandwidth to share large data globally. Flexible InterConnect also provides an interconnect function of the Smart Data Platform, a one-stop platform that provides all the functions necessary for data utilization, including information collection, storage, management, and analysis.

Flexible InterConnect offers three distinct advantages: 1) strengthens IT governance of overseas offices, 2) allows centralized management of connections, network bandwidth and security settings, and 3) simplifies connection configurations.

Multinational companies typically have overseas offices that connect to cloud services based on unified connection policies. Flexible InterConnect will enable all such global offices to establish connection to cloud services under a single, unified policy for enhanced security and IT governance. Further a portal site available overseas will enable users to easily configure and centrally manage connections, network bandwidth and security settings, and also quickly establish cloud connections on demand. Connection to multiple cloud services and data centers from a single physical port also will be possible, eliminating the need to prepare a separate line for each connection. Clients will securely interconnect ICT resources via 1G+ bandwidth (Layer 2 connection) without having to add new lines.

Service delivery schedule

Going forward, NTT Com plans to expand service availability and cloud service providers to which Flexible InterConnect can be connected. Also, planned new functions include on-demand provisioning via the portal site, software components such as FW/NAT, Layer 3 connection, and more.

Companies engaged in global business tend to expand their use of cloud services, data centers and other ICT resources, both domestically and internationally. NTT Com, by providing its new Flexible InterConnect overseas network infrastructure, aims to help such companies achieve global-scale digital transformations and overcome issues arising from the increasing expansion and complexity of ICT resources. Ultimately, through this and other initiatives based on its 'Re-connect X ' business vision, NTT Com hopes to contribute to the realization of a more sustainable world under the new normal.
