Tokyo - Sept. 30, 2022 -NTT Corporation ("NTT") announced today that Mr. Seizo Onoe, the current Chief Standardization Strategy Officer (CSSO) of NTT, was elected as the next Director of the Telecommunication Standardization Bureau at the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2022 in Bucharest, Romania on September 30th.

ITU is the United Nations' specialized agency for information and communication technologies (ICTs), composed of 193 member states. Its main duties include allocating the global radio spectrum, developing the technical standards of telecommunication networks, and improving access to networks in developing countries. Mr. Seizo Onoe has played a leading role in standardization and technology development in the industry forums for mobile communication systems. He will begin his duties as the next Director in January 2023.

NTT will further contribute to the progress of the ICTs following the framework of the ITU, which is one of the international standardization organizations.
