NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Nissan Americas has named Leon Martinez vice president and chief human resources officer (CHRO). In this role, he will oversee all HR activities for Nissan's operations in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and South America.

Martinez was most recently division general manager, Global Talent Management, Nissan Motor Corporation Ltd., based at the company's headquarters in Yokohama, Japan. His Nissan career spans nine years. Previously, he supported non-manufacturing functions as a global HR business partner in Japan. Martinez also held several HR leadership roles in in the Americas region, including vice president, Latin America and director, Nissan Mexicana.

Martinez holds an Industrial Engineering degree from Instituto de Estudios Superior de Tamaulipas A.C.

He will begin his role as CHRO on June 1.
