The power and automation company ABB will supply the power supply for NKT's expansion of the factory in Karlskrona, which manufactures high-voltage submarine cables. This is stated in a press release.
ABB will supply the factory and cable tower with electrical power in a comprehensive turnkey solution that includes the UniGear ZS1 switchgear. The company has also supplied the power supply to NKT's existing facility.
"As we expand, we are choosing to continue a relationship that works well with a partner that has reliable, high quality equipment," comments Darren Fennell, Site Manager for NKT in Karlskrona.

NKT submarine cables are used for connection to offshore wind farms.
NKT A/S specializes in the manufacture and marketing of electrical cables for onshore and offshore installations. Net sales (including intragroup) break down by activity as follows:
- sale of high voltage power cables (54.9%): for onshore and offshore installations;
- sale of medium and low voltage power cables and building wires (37.3%);
- sale of services and accessories (7.8%).
At the end of 2024, the group had 12 production sites worldwide.
Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: Denmark (3.8%), Germany (27.9%), the United Kingdom (13.8%), Poland (9.1%), Norway (5.2%), Sweden (3.9%), the Netherlands (2.3%), France (2.2%), the United States (18.8%) and other (13%).
