Nokia said Monday that it has signed a three-year deal with A1 Telekom Austria to provide private wireless technology and services for so-called campus networks.

Campus networks are local area networks, or a set of interconnected local area networks, that provide wireless network services to buildings in close proximity to each other, usually for corporations, government agencies or universities, for example.

Nokia has already deployed a number of campus networks for A1 Telekom Austria, including at Vienna Airport.

The deal announced Monday will see Nokia technology used in all of A1 Telekom Austria's existing and new campus network deployments using long-term evolution and fifth-generation technology.
