(Alliance News) - Nokia Corp on Wednesday said it expanded its partnership with BT Group PLC in a five-year deal for its AVA Analytics software.

The Finnish telecommunications company said the software for fixed networks will help the London-based telecommunications company strengthen its network monitoring through artificial intelligence and machine learning. Nokia also said it would improve subscriber experience.

The agreement updates Nokia's dashboard solution Homeview for BT, giving call centre agents a real-time view of the network from individual subscribers to devices. This is useful for quickly correcting access and in-home issues, Nokia said.

It is estimated roughly 6,000 BT care agents will be able to remotely manage over 10 million WiFi connections due to the agreement. More than 100 million actions can also be taken each day, according to Nokia.

Nokia's AVA Analytics division will also supply BT with automated workflows featuring deep analytics towards improving operational efficiency and boosting BT's net promoter scores, a measure of how likely a customer would recommend a service to another user.

"Our expanded partnership with Nokia is another demonstration of our commitment to providing the best customer experience by investing in AI, analytics, and other state-of the-art technology," said Nick Lane, managing director for consumer customer services at BT.

Hamdy Farid, senior vice president of business applications at Nokia, added: "Nokia AVA Fixed Network Insights is a critical component to helping operators improve network diagnosis and troubleshooting processes, while reducing unnecessary manual fixes. We are very pleased to be taking our partnership with BT to the next level with this agreement.”

Shares in Nokia were down 0.5% to EUR4.70 each in Helsinki on Wednesday morning, while shares in BT were up 2.6% to 116.75 pence each in London.
