Nokia has announced that New Zealand communications services provider 2degrees has chosen Nokia's 'Registers and Shared Data Layer (SDL) 5G' software to be deployed on Red Hat OpenShift, the industry's leading hybrid cloud application platform powered by Kubernetes.

The idea is to be able to manage data more cost-effectively, more reliably and with ease of maintenance for around 1.6 million 2degrees subscribers.

Nokia says 2degrees offers broadband and mobile services over 3G, 4G and 5G networks covering 98.5% of where New Zealanders live and work, with a nationwide fiber network and modern technology platforms.
