Nokia has signed a multi-year patent license agreement with Samsung covering the use of Nokia's video technologies in Samsung televisions, under which the South Korean group will pay royalties.

The Finnish network equipment supplier points out that this new agreement is separate from the existing 5G patent license agreement between Nokia and Samsung. The terms of the agreement remain confidential between the parties.

'This agreement is further proof of Nokia's leadership in video and multimedia technologies, and a further validation of our decades-long investment in R&D and multimedia standardization', comments Arvin Patel, chief licensing officer.
