Nordic Unmanned receives uplift on contract with European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA).

The value of the uplift is 1.1 Million EUR and is an uplift of an existing contract, labelled EMSA/OP/12/2018, which covers the delivery of lightweight RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft System) services to EMSA. These services cover operations from vessels and land, providing aerial view of operation areas around fields of oil pollution, fishery control, and maritime surveillance.

Nordic Unmanned is seeing a larger than expected demand for services utilizing the lightweight RPAS Lockheed Martin Indago 2 and 3 in the contract, and EMSA has amended the framework contract with an increase of the contractual value by 38.46%, adding 1.1 million EUR. The uplift is expected to be used during 2021, making the new total budget for the contract around 4 million EUR. The rest of the framework contract remains unchanged. The client is not committed to consume the total budget, and the actual usage of the contract is performed through the signature of specific contracts. So far there has been 42 specific contracts on this framework contract and based on current and past activity levels, there are indications that the uplift will be used during 2021.

Knut Roar Wiig, CEO of Nordic Unmanned stated: “The uplift of this contract with EMSA once again showcases the importance of these lightweight RPAS services in maritime operations. The growth in our industry is driven by the rapid distribution and use of the data the RPAS is providing. This is solving the need for information that our customers are experiencing, and thus increasing the demand for our services, at a much faster rate than anticipated only a few years ago. Our rapid deployment and integration into existing vessel and port operations makes critical live data available to key tactical and strategic decision makers in the matter of seconds. We are proud to supply these services to EMSA and their users.”
