SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) _ NorthWestern Corp. (NWE) on Wednesday reported first-quarter profit of $63.1 million.

On a per-share basis, the Sioux Falls, South Dakota-based company said it had net income of $1.24. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were $1.26 per share.

The electric and gas utility posted revenue of $400.8 million in the period.

NorthWestern expects full-year earnings in the range of $3.40 to $3.60 per share.

NorthWestern shares have climbed 21% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $70.27, a climb of 19% in the last 12 months.
