Biggest investment and largest amount of spectrum acquired
The auction for the allocation of the 5G frequencies ended today, with NOS winning the largest fraction of the spectrum released, and making the biggest investment of all the participants. This completely fulfils all the objectives outlined in NOS' strategy for the fifth generation of mobile networks.
After more than 200 days of bidding, in the longest auction ever, NOS acquired spectrum in all possible bands to explore the new technology: 100MHz in the 3.6GHz band and 2x10MHz in the 700MHz band. NOS also acquired 2x5MHz in the 2100MHz band and 2x2MHz in the 900MHz band to reinforce its 4G network and improve the quality of service throughout the entire country.
The investment made is proportional to NOS' ambition to lead 5G, thus ensuring the best conditions to fully deliver the potential of this new generation of mobile communications to the country.
