Novo Nordisk was one of the companies represented when Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen met with Danish business leaders to discuss preparations for a possible trade dispute with the US over Greenland. Reuters reports.

Frederiksen emphasized the importance of Danish companies in contributing to growth and jobs in the US. She also assured that Denmark, together with the EU, prioritizes increased trade rather than conflict. Greenland's Prime Minister Múte Egede was also briefed before and after Frederiksen's talks with Trump.

Participants included Lars Fruergaard Jørgensen, CEO of the pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk, as well as representatives from Pandora, Lego, Carlsberg, Vestas and Ørsted. Novo Nordisk, which manufactures the popular drug Wegovy, is a major exporter to the US.

The meeting followed a phone call between Frederiksen and US President Donald Trump, in which Trump did not rule out military or economic action to take control of Greenland.

Trump has hinted that he would impose tariffs on Danish goods if Denmark opposes his offer to buy the island.
