Sustainability Report of NTPC Released

NTPC Limited, India's largest power utility released its Sustainability Report "Powering with care ..." today in New Delhi. Dr. Arup Roy Choudhury released the report for the year 2011-12 in the presence of Shri A.K. Singhal, Director (Finance) , Shri N.N. Misra , Director (Operations), Shri A.K. Jha, Director ( Technical) and Shri U.P. Pani , Director (HR).

With NTPC's Sustainable Energy Development Vision of 'Going Higher on Generation, lowering GHG intensity", the report is a step towards sustaining greener environment, conserving natural resources such as energy, water etc. and company's commitment towards Corporate Governance and Social Responsibility.

It is a self declared B+ report and in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G3.0 guidelines. The report has been externally assured by the assurance provider, M/s DNV AS, as per the assurance standard AA1000. Key challenges and opportunities in power sector, NTPC's strengths and strategies to meet these challenges are part of this report.. Other aspects under Economic, Environment and Social performance indicators have also been included.

NTPC has an installed capacity of 41,184 MW through 16 coal based, 2 solar renewable, 7 gas / liquid fuel and 7 Joint Venturepower stations. NTPC added a record capacity of 4170 MW during the year 2012-13 surpassing its earlier best capacity addition of 2,820 MW during 2011-12.
