The Springfield, Missouri-based company said it had net income of $7.07 per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $6.34 per share.
The auto parts retailer posted revenue of $3.21 billion in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.98 billion.
O'Reilly Automotive shares have risen nearly 1% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has risen 1%. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $442.39, increasing slightly in the last 12 months.
