SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) _ O'Reilly Automotive Inc. (ORLY) on Wednesday reported second-quarter net income of $585.5 million.
The Springfield, Missouri-based company said it had profit of $8.33 per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $7.28 per share.
The auto parts retailer posted revenue of $3.47 billion in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $3.16 billion.
O'Reilly Automotive expects full-year earnings to be $26.80 to $27 per share, with revenue in the range of $12.3 billion to $12.6 billion.
O'Reilly Automotive shares have increased 35% since the beginning of the year, while the S&P's 500 index has climbed 17%. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $609.59, a rise of 35% in the last 12 months.
