HOUSTON (AP) _ Occidental Petroleum Corp. (OXY) on Tuesday reported third-quarter profit of $2.75 billion.

The Houston-based company said it had net income of $2.52 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were $2.44 per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.48 per share.

The oil and gas exploration and production company posted revenue of $9.5 billion in the period, exceeding Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $9.35 billion.
