Lauding the participation and enthusiasm of PwD employees of ONGC during the valedictory session of the pioneering MOSAIC 2020, CMD Mr Shashi Shanker noted that the Energy Maharatna has always been dedicated towards embracing diversity, equality and inclusiveness. Mr Shanker stated that PwD employees at ONGC are provided with special facilities so that they can perform their duties and deliver productive outcomes smoothly.

On ONGC's inclusive policy over employee engagement, Mr Shanker said that ONGC is the only PSU to organize the Para Games - sporting event for PwD employees - every year. This year, due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the para games were replaced with MOSAIC 2020 - a series of online games for PwD employees. 'During the pandemic scenario across the globe, MOSAIC 2020 is a wonderful initiative to keep our PwD employees connected, despite working from home,' said Mr Shanker.

ONGC flagged off the unprecedented initiative MOSAIC 2020 - online games for PwD (Persons with Disabilities) employees - on 23 November 2020. The preliminary rounds of the event was held from 23 to 27 November, with the final being held on 3 December - the International Day for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).

Portraying it as a unique event, CMD Mr Shashi Shanker congratulated the entire organizing team for conducting MOSAIC 2020 amidst the pandemic challenges, with enthusiastic participation from PwD employees from ONGC and OVL. Citing the challenging scenario posed due to the pandemic, Mr Shanker asserted that Health and Safety of its employees has always been the top priority of ONGC management. 'We need to take care of ourselves, our family and loved ones, while ensuring that our normal business continues, following all protocols.'

During the final day of MOSAIC 2020, CMD Mr Shashi Shanker along with other Executive Committee members declared the winners of the series of online games for PwD employees. The online games included quiz competition, extempore contest, poetry recitation contest, debate competition, poster-making competition (Digital Canvas) and Regard before you Discard (Best out of Raw Material).

Among the total 424 PwD employees of ONGC, MOSAIC 2020 witnessed the participation of 246 employees across the events - with 158 unique participants having registered in all events. The primary rounds of the events were conducted through Google Meet to facilitate better accessibility and subtitled speeches from all participants. Also, for the first time in ONGC, the online quiz of the event was conducted with two different durations - 30 minutes for non-visually impaired participants and an extra 10 minutes for visually-impaired participants.

Addressing the attendees on the final day of MOSAIC, Director (HR) Dr Alka Mittal emphasized on the importance of the exceptional online games and stated that the presence of the entire Executive Committee on the valedictory session itself signifies glory of the event. Earlier, gracing the debate competition on 26 November 2020, Director (HR) portrayed MOSAIC 2020 as the most happening event of 2020. Director (HR) interacted, motivated and appreciated every finalists of the debate competition after their individual speeches.

The final day of MOSAIC 2020 initiated with a talk show with the theme 'Candid for Covid', where participants expressed their views on challenges of the pandemic exceptionally faced by persons with disabilities.

Speakers at the talk show thanked ONGC for being supportive by providing technical helps for PwD employees to work remotely, while being safe from the deadly virus.

Participants of MOSAIC 2020, during the entire event, have been lauding ONGC for the unique concept to organize exciting games for PwD employees through virtual medium. DGM (HR) Delhi Mr Satyendra Kumar Sangwan, with orthopaedic disability, sketched MOSAIC 2020 as one of the greatest way to get connected with the organization and colleagues. Another participant, Security Officer Kakinada Mr R Kartikeyan Iyer called the contests out of the blue and one of its kind. 'It is like a festival. ONGC's friendly and inclusive policies towards keeping its employees engaged and encouraged at all times are indeed appreciable,' he added.
