CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Oct 9, 2015) - Olympia Financial Group Inc. (TSX:OLY) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dennis Nerland and Alan Rice to its Board of Directors.

Mr. Nerland has been a partner with the Calgary-based tax and business law firm Shea Nerland Calnan LLP since 1990 practicing in the areas of tax and trust law. Mr. Nerland is a current and past director of a number of private investment companies, a number of private operating companies and a number of public companies listed on the TSX Venture Exchange and the Toronto Stock Exchange. Mr. Nerland has a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Calgary, a Master of Arts (Economics) from Carleton University and a Bachelor of Science (Economics and Mathematics) from the University of Calgary. He is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Calgary Bar Association, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, achieving the TEP designation. Mr. Nerland has also completed the Directors Education Program, jointly developed by the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) and Rotman School of Management, and has earned his ICD.D designation. He also completed the Rotman Financial Literacy Program for Directors and Executives and received the designation of Queen's Counsel ("Q.C.") in Alberta in 2014.

Mr. Rice is a Chartered Accountant with Rice & Company LLP. Mr. Rice graduated from the University of Lethbridge with a Bachelor of Management Degree and he holds a Masters in Professional Accounting from the University of Saskatchewan. He has also completed the Chartered Director Program through the Directors College (McMaster University). Prior to forming Rice & Company LLP, Mr. Rice gained valuable experience with public companies and not-for-profit organizations. These roles included positions such as chief financial officer and business development manager and his duties included; financial information review, business valuation, contract negotiation, acquisition integration, and strategic development. The previous roles have had a focus on International Financial Reporting Standards and the conversion from Canadian GAAP. He also has extensive experience in corporate tax preparation and Exempt Market financing audits.

The Board of Directors of the Company is now comprised of the following seven (7) individuals: Rick Skauge, Craig Skauge, Brian Newman, Gerard Janssen, Tony Lanzl, Dennis Nerland and Alan Rice. Messrs. Newman, Janssen, Lanzl, Nerland and Rice are each considered independent pursuant to applicable securities laws.
