Notification with new appointment of the Executive Officers

Olympus Corporation ("Olympus") hereby announces that the Board of Directors held today has tentatively decided new appointments of the executive officers. It is scheduled to be decided formally in the Board of Directors at the end of March 2022.

1. Purpose

The purpose of this change is enhancing our R&D function and improving our capabilities on our entire value chain from R&D and manufacturing to customers both on a leading global level.

Currently, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) oversees the development, manufacturing, and procurement functions of Olympus. In order to enhance the global operations of each of these functions, as well as the comprehensive end-to-end operations of the entire value chain, from upstream to downstream, we decided to reorganize the CTO function and split into two. One is a technology and product development functions and another is a global manufacturing, procurement and supply functions. CTO will focus on the former functions and a newly added executive officer, Chief Manufacturing and Supply Officer (CMSO) will look after the latter functions.

Olympus announced, on November 6, 2019, its new corporate strategy ("Corporate Strategy") to achieve growth as a global medical technology ("medtech") company based on our corporate philosophy. Under this Corporate Strategy, we have implemented a number of initiatives, including divestiture of Imaging Business, and we are confident that we are making progress toward our strategic aspiration. In order for Olympus to continue to develop as a company that specializes in the medical field and provides value to society, the six executive officers, including the CMSO, will be responsible for business execution from April 1, 2022.
