On February 26, 2019, The Ministry of Transport and Communications announced that work has begun for building temporary petrol stations on the Batinah Expressway. In January, the Ministry of Transport and Communications had signed an agreement with Oman Oil Marketing Company to establish four temporary petrol stations on the Batinah Expressway. Following the agreement, on February 26, 2019, the ministry said: ‘Construction on the temporary petrol stations has started across the Batinah Express way.’ ‘These stations will be part of the truck weighing stations,’ added the ministry. According to authorities at Oman Oil Marketing Company, all four stations will become operational within a month. The ministry had announced earlier that there will be four locations initially: Two of the stations will be in Northern Batinah and the other two in Southern Batinah.
