Starting in 2018, OMV Petrom became a Gold sponsor, and the 21 km race was named OMV Petrom Half Marathon.

The number of participants has steadily increased from 3,000 runners in 2012 to 19,000 in 2019, with runners from 65 countries. The number of OMV Petrom employees running in various races has increased considerably, from 90 in 2012 to over 660 in 2019.
