PHOENIX (AP) _ ON Semiconductor Corp. (ON) on Monday reported second-quarter net income of $184.1 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Phoenix-based company said it had profit of 42 cents. Earnings, adjusted to extinguish debt and for amortization costs, came to 63 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 11 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 49 cents per share.

The semiconductor components maker posted revenue of $1.67 billion in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Eight analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.62 billion.

For the current quarter ending in October, ON Semiconductor Corp. expects its per-share earnings to range from 68 cents to 80 cents.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $1.66 billion to $1.76 billion for the fiscal third quarter.

ON Semiconductor Corp. shares have risen 19% since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 90% in the last 12 months.
