EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) _ OneMain Holdings Inc. (OMF) on Thursday reported first-quarter earnings of $301 million.

On a per-share basis, the Evansville, Indiana-based company said it had profit of $2.36.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.15 per share.

The consumer finance company posted revenue of $1.25 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $794 million, which fell short of Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $866.2 million.
