Opendoor Technologies : New Braunfels once again named among hottest neighborhoods in U.S.

Not many cities can go from "remote Texas town " to one of America's hottest neighborhoods, but that's exactly what has happened to New Braunfels. Months after the New York Times described the San Antonio 'burb as "remote" (an oversight it later remedied), online real estate company Opendoor named New Braunfels among its 10 Hottest Neighborhoods in the U.S.

To determine the hot spots, Opendoor analyzed data from local Multiple Listing Services where Opendoor Brokerages operate. Each ZIP code was then ranked by the total number homes that went under contract within 90 days of listing in 2021.

Considering the red-hot year Texas real estate had in 2021, it should be no surprise that four of the 10 neighborhoods were in Texas.

Along with New Braunfels, which ranked No. 4, Opendoor identified Leander, which sit just northwest of the Austin city limits, as the No. 2 hottest 'hood. Also making the list is No. 3 Katy, Texas, a popular Houston suburb that's long been a favorite for families. Coming in at No. 7 is Forney, part of the DFW metroplex and the final Lone Star city on the list.

Rounding out the rest is Clarksville, Tennessee (No. 1); Yukon, Oklahoma (No. 5); Loganville, Georgia (No. 6); Temecula, California (No. 8); Downtown San Diego (No. 9); and Celebration, Florida (No. 10).

Interestingly, nearly the entire list is situated in the Sun Belt and other warm weather climes. It's all part of the pandemic era shift to work from home, Opendoor notes in its report. As Americans rethink how (and where) they live, warmer weather is often among their requirements, Opendoor notes.

Opendoor isn't the only real estate authority to zero in on New Braunfels. In December, Redfin predicted < /a>New Braunfels would be among America's Hottest Neighborhoods for 2022.

In fact, the entire San Antonio region is, in the words of Paris Hilton, "so hot." Realtor forecasts that the Alamo City's residential real estate market will actually grow more than Austin and Houston this year. And over on Zillow, San Antonio was declared among 10 hottest real estate markets for 2022.
