AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ Oracle Corp. (ORCL) on Monday reported fiscal fourth-quarter net income of $3.19 billion.

On a per-share basis, the Austin, Texas-based company said it had net income of $1.16. Earnings, adjusted for stock option expense and amortization costs, came to $1.54 per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.38 per share.

The software maker posted revenue of $11.84 billion in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Eight analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $11.65 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $6.72 billion, or $2.41 per share. Revenue was reported as $42.44 billion.
