HOUSTON (AP) _ Orion Engineered Carbons SA (OEC) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter net income of $8.9 million.

On a per-share basis, the Houston-based company said it had net income of 14 cents. Earnings, adjusted for restructuring costs and non-recurring costs, were 40 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 34 cents per share.

The producer of the chemcial additive carbon black posted revenue of $315.7 million in the period.

For the year, the company reported profit of $18.2 million, or 30 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $1.14 billion.

Orion Engineered Carbons shares have fallen roughly 6% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $16.13, decreasing slightly in the last 12 months.
