The Norwegian energy ministry signed an agreement to acquire remaining 53.30% stake in GASSCO from Shell, CapeOmega, ConocoPhilipps, Equinor, Hav Energy, Orlen and Silex for NOK 18.1 billion on January 1, 2024. Under the terms, seven companies came to an agreement with the government, two groups rejected the offer. North Sea Infrastructure and M Vest Energy did not agree to a sale and maintain their stakes.
The agreement lifts the Norwegian state's stake in Gassled to 100% from 46.7% previously. The government remains determined to acquire these remaining stakes, either through negotiation or by exercising its rights at the end of the current concession period. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the year.
